Obituary: Ruth Enger
Ruth Naomi Enger, age 84 of Princeton, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2011 at the Elim Care and Rehab Center in Princeton. 
Ruth was born on December 6, 1926 to Oscar and Laura (Waelde) Monson in Luverne. She graduated high school from Danube and continued her education in Western Union, Ia. to become a teacher. She taught in a country school in Renville County from 1946-1947.
Ruth married William “Bill” John Enger on August 22, 1946 at the North Redwood Church in Renville County. The couple lived in various places before making Princeton their home in 1960.
Ruth worked as a nurse’s aide in Braham and Mora prior to obtaining her LPN license. She worked at the Princeton Hospital from the early 1960’s until her retirement on July 20, 1990.
Ruth was a talented quilter, making hundreds of quilts throughout the years. She is a member of the Princeton’s Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame, a forty-five year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Freshwaters United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and volunteered in various ways over the years, perhaps most famously known as the “Grandma’s Kitchen Greeter”.
Ruth is survived by her children: Tim (Connie) Enger, Tom (Mona) Enger, Mark (Mary) Enger, Sue Enger, Carol (Rich) Fillafer, Dawn (Tim) Doyle; grandchildren: Melissa (Jesse) McAlpine, Michael Enger, Carrie (Justin) Schuh, Jena and Ross (Jaclyn) Enger, David and Dalton Enger, Jon and Sarah Fillafer, Jared and Cedie Doyle; great grandchildren: Ashley, Allyson and Tyler McAlpine, Lucas Enger and Lila Schuh; brother: Richard (Carmen) Monson; sister: Naomi Schaaf. Ruth is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Ruth was welcomed Home to Heaven by her husband Bill and by her parents.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Freshwaters United Methodist Church, River Campus in Princeton. Rev. Loren Ferch will officiate.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Freshwaters United Methodist Church, River Campus in Princeton
Interment: Oak Knoll Cemetery
Memorials are preferred to Freshwaters United Methodist Church, Music program.
