Edgar (Ed) Sieckert, age 93, of Princeton, passed away January 6, 2012, at the Princeton Elim Home.
Edgar William Sieckert was born August 4, 1918 in Stewart, MN, the Son of Clarence and Adeline (Mueller) Sieckert. Edgar graduated from the Redwood High School. On February 7, 1941 he was united in marriage to Helen Honl at Morgan, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with four children.
Edgar worked at various jobs in the Morgan area, gas station attendant, drove cattle truck, lumberyard and meat cutter. They moved to Faribault where he worked as a meat cutter. In 1945 they moved to Princeton, MN, where he worked at the locker plant. He then worked at Super Value on Main Street for Bud Anderson and Freichels, he was in charge of the meat dept. In 1956 he went to work at Hoffman Engineering. During his time there, he attended Dunwoody School and became a Drafting Engineer. He retired from Hoffman in 1980.
Ed and Helen belonged to the Rum River Ramblers; they enjoyed camping and snowmobiling with their friends in the group and by themselves. For 15 years they wintered in Apache Junction, AZ, they were always on the go, bringing friends to see something they had discovered.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Helen, children, Karen (Larry) Pope of Blackduck,MN. Terrence (Jan) Sieckert of Donna, Texas, Marlus (Norm) East of Oakpark, MN, Randy (Crystal) Sieckert of Princeton. Grandchildren Mark (Sue) Pope, Marcyne Chalupnik, Marlena Pope, Marlowe Pope, Marshall (Courtney) Pope, Christopher Sieckert, Sabrina (Nathan) Ranweiler, Brian East, Brenda (Dan) Meyer, Lynette (TJ) Gageby, Scott (Carla) Sieckert, Nicole (Brad) Lenzen and 21 great grandchildren, one sister Ruth Pedersen of Redwood Falls, MN,and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Allyn Sieckert and sister CoraBelle Sieckert.
Visitation: 5-7 PM Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton, MN and also one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.
Funeral service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Princeton Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Al Schirmacher officiating. . The pallbearers will be Mark Pope, Marlowe Pope, Marshall Pope, Christopher Sieckert, Brian East, and Scott Sieckert.
Interment: Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton.
