Evelyn Joyce Halvorson, 82, Foley, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at the Elim Care & Rehab Center, Princeton.
Evelyn was born on July 5, 1929 at Princeton, daughter of Ed and Mabel (Talberg) Stay. She grew up in Greenbush Township and attended country school. She was united in marriage with Clair George on September 12, 1947 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Santiago (rural Princeton). They made their home in the Glendorado area.
Evelyn worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal in Arden Hills during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. She started working at Federal Cartridge in Anoka in 1974. Her husband, Clair, died on June 18, 1976. Evelyn was united in marriage with Ray Halvorson on April 4, 1981 at Glendorado Lutheran Church, Glendorado and they made their home on Ray’s farm near Foley. She retired from Federal Cartridge in April of 1989.
Evelyn loved being with family and friends, she was always giving to others. She and Ray enjoyed country music and watched RFD on Saturday nights.
She is survived by her husband Ray Halvorson; two daughters and a son: Gwendolyn (Louis) Severson of Princeton, Audrie (Robert) Lambert of Welcome, N.C. and David (Theresa) George of Princeton; eight grandchildren: Derek George, Scott Severson, Neil Shea, Thomas Shea, Brandon Lambert, Casey Quinn, Lisa Kollar and Danielle George; five great-grandchildren: Corbin, Austin, Isaac, Katelyn and Ruby; two brothers and two sisters: Russell (Naomi) Stay of Princeton, Luella Petersen of Princeton, Arlyss (Bernard) Abrahamson of Princeton and Roger (Marlene) Stay of Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Mabel Stay, brother Leslie Stay and her husband Clair George.
Funeral services was held on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Princeton. Burial was in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Princeton.
