Obituary: Johnny Elvin
Johnny Elvin, age 62 of Princeton, died January 18, 2012 at home.
Johnny Jefferson Williams Elvin was born March 1, 1949 in Montgomery, Ala. He grew up in Montgomery and lived one block from Martin Luther King Sr.’s house at the time of his assassination. Johnny recalled going to the home in support that day. He had a great appreciation for equal rights. Johnny married Frances Cheslock Ballúff April 15, 1997 and they made their home in Princeton. Johnny loved to farm, raise sheep and just enjoy the farmland. He also loved hunting, fishing, sitting with his wife by the creek and going on excursions with her. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; father, Richard Elvin of Princeton; two sons, Johnny II and Major; three daughters, Diantha, Tilly and Doosie; two step-sons, Anthony (Claudia) Ballúff and Randall (Jasmine) Ballúff; seven brothers, one sister, several grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Williams, and by one brother and one sister.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. May 26th on the Elvin Farm.Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home-Cambridge Chapel.
