Obituary: Roger G. Hansen
Roger G. Hansen, age 72, of Elk River passed away quietly at home on January 23rd surrounded by his wife Ronay, and his two children, Corey and Jody. Roger was born in 1940, in Princeton, MN in the family farmhouse. As a hard working and ambitious young man, Roger served in the Army National Guard for 2 years. Roger was married to Bette Jean Rieman in July of 1960, and their marriage brought the blessing of three wonderful children, Jody, Darcy and Corey. Roger worked for International Paper Company for over twenty five years. He then became the facilities manager for the Elk River School District #728 for twenty two years, during which time he married Ronay. After retiring in 2005, Roger and Ronay could be found enjoying their home in Yuma Arizona during the frigid Minnesota winters and spending the summer on the river fishing, or simply enjoying the Eagles, Swans, and other birds that Roger loved to see from the porch of their Mississippi River home. To know Roger was to know a good provider, a family man, a hard worker, a man that loved to travel. A man that was always able to help or “fix” whatever it was, that nobody else could. Roger will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Darcy; his parents Gust and Helen Hansen. Roger is survived by his wife of 19 years Ronay; his two children Corey Hansen (Kim) of Coon Rapids, and Jody Horning (Jerry) of Albertville; his two step daughters Lisa LeFavor of Maple Grove, and Tina Heidelberger (Matt Wilcox) of Minnetonka; and six grandchildren, Kayla, Alyssa, and Nathan Hansen and Haley and Wesley Horning, and Derek LeFavor.
Also survived by his brothers; Kenneth (Janice) Hansen and Russell (Judy) Hansen; sisters; Marlene Nelson and Gayle (Dwight) Barth and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Our Dad and Grandpa was caring and loving. He always gave more than he took. We love you and miss you and will carry you in our hearts each and every day.
