Two people fall through the ice
Sheriff Brent C. Lindgren reports that on January 15, 2012, at approximately 6:12 p.m., the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that two individuals on ATVs fell through the ice on Lake Mille Lacs in the area of Cove Bay.
Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s deputies along with Mille Lacs County Search and Rescue personnel responded to the incident scene near Brandt’s Landing. Ambulances from Onamia and Isle were also dispatched to receive any injured persons.
At the scene, Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s deputies discovered that three individuals had been traveling across the ice on ATVs when two of the individuals fell through the ice.
Identified at the scene was Christopher Loch, 34, of Albertville, who was the 911 caller and the one who did not fall through the ice. Also identified were Ryan Hendrickson, 34, of Albertville, and Dale Hendrickson, 63, of St. Cloud, both of whom had fallen through the ice.
Both Hendricksons had fallen through the ice and both were pulled from the water by Loch and Loch then transported them to Brandt’s Landing where both men were then transported to Mille Lacs Health System located in Onamia, for further medical treatment.
The ATVs being driven at the time of the incident had been left in the water that evening.
