Eugene Floyd Staats, 74, of Princeton, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 4, 2012.
Gene was born in Canton, Ohio, to Eugene and Ruth Staats. He moved to the Princeton area after he
retired in 2001. Gene is survived by his wife Patricia; children Debbi Lamont of Evansville, In. son
Charles (Cheryl) of Andover, Mn., and son Frank of Princeton, Mn. Also grandchildren Jeffery, Martin,
Courtney, Cody, Christopher and Great granddaughter Amelia. Siblings; Sisters Beth, Louise, and Nancy
all of Ohio, and Brother Michael of Martinsburg. WV.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, and brother William Staats.
Gene achieved a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1972. During his career as a Plastics
Engineer he won many awards. Most notible was the moulding that you see in many businesses and
homes today. While attending the University of Akron in Ohio, he also completed 6 yrs. in the Air
Force National Guard.
Gene had many hobbies and interest in life which included: bow and rifle hunting, dog obedience and
conformation, along with ballroom dancing. However his bigget interests were camping, canoeing, and
fishing. Gene and his wife, Patricia went on many camping and canoeing trips in the Canadian
wilderness. They enjoyed the seclusion and privacy this type of vacation provived.
Another great joy of Gene’s was driving the DAC clients to and from their homes. He loved them all.
Gene put a smile on everyone’s face he met. He will be missed greatly, especially by his wife Patricia.
Funeral services were held at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, Brooklyn Park, Mn.
