Police Report: Week of Feb. 9, 2012
The following incidents were reported to the Princeton Police Department between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5. The times printed are when a complaint was received, not necessarily when it occurred. The report was compiled by Jeff Hage.
Monday, Jan. 30
12:49 a.m. A resident reported seeing lights flash inside the residence of her neighbor whom she knew was not at the residence. A check of the residence showed all was secure.
9:45 a.m. A person in the 1100 block of 4th Avenue N. reported the theft of money. There are no suspects.
7:21 p.m. ATVs were seen driving in excess of a 20 mph speed limit and exhibition riding. Drivers were advised of city ordinance.
7:31 p.m. A resident trying to catch a stray cat was bitten by the cat. Officers impounded the cat.
Tuesday, Jan. 31
2:55 a.m. A resident in the 600 block of 11th Street N. reported a driver’s side mirror removed from a vehicle parked on the property. Owner suspects several juveniles who were seen in the alley behind his residence.
9:12 a.m. A gas drive-off in the amount of $80.46 was reported at Casey’s North. Under investigation.
1:10 p.m. A case of illegal dumping in the 100 block of 6th Ave. S.
9:13 p.m. A driver’s license was turned into the police station. Finder said it was found at the mall in St. Cloud. License returned to owner.
9:32 p.m. A woman reported finding a dachshund dog and said she’d hold onto it for a few days until an owner claimed it.
Wednesday, Feb. 1
1:59 p.m. Medication and a small amount of marijuana were found in a high school locker during a drug search. The owner of the locker was to be cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Thursday, Feb. 2
4:43 a.m. A woman was found sleeping in a car at the hospital with a lit cigarette.
8:16 a.m. Police received a report of someone living in a detached garage. The dweller was contacted and informed of the city ordinance prohibiting such action. Person said they were living in garage until an apartment could be found.
3:43 p.m. A bench was broken and thrown in the Rum River on 5th Ave. N.
3:57 p.m. Officer responded to an in-service school bus where a student was throwing candy and refusing to exit from the bus. Officer removed student from bus and took to police station where the student waited for a ride.
4:10 p.m. A woman reported seeing vehicles drive down a dead-end road. People in the vehicles were then seen exchanging money. Suspects were contacted. They said they were exchanging proceeds from a transaction at a pawn shop.
4:34 p.m. An officer assisted a Mille Lacs County deputy with a burglary in progress on 115th Ave. Two juvenile males were detained.
Friday, Feb. 3
1:39 a.m. Thomas R. Schwerzler, age 29, was arrested on suspicion of DWI. He was originally pulled over during a traffic stop for driving over the fog line and driving with a cracked windshield. A field sobriety test showed a blood alcohol level of .190.
5:39 a.m. A fish house fell off a trailer being pulled by a vehicle on Highway 169 at 55th Street. The fish house blocked the two northbound lanes of Highway 169. The house was removed from the road and towed from the scene.
7:33 p.m. $80 in cash was taken from a vehicle parked at Anytime Fitness.
Saturday, Feb. 4
7:52 a.m. A business at 710 Rum River Dr. S. reported pry marks on the back door of the business.
3:36 p.m. A business at 716 Rum River Dr. S. reported a burglary.
11:58 p.m. An intoxicated male flagged down an officer in a restaurant parking lot. Male said he had gotten out of the car of his girlfriend because they were arguing. The girlfriend was contacted. She refused to bring the male home. He was taken by officer to the home of a relative in Sherburne County.
Sunday, Feb. 5
12:24 a.m. Steve E. Dohse, age 58, was arrested for suspicion of DWI. He was originally pulled over for crossing the fog line and driving on the shoulder. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. He was booked into the Mille Lacs County Jail.
5:16 a.m. A dead fox was reported on Highway 169 at Rum River Dr. Officer cleared the fox and car parts from the road.
5:31 a.m. A business at 714 Rum River Dr. S. reported a burglary.
