Anna Treichel of Coon Rapids, a 2008 Princeton High School graduate, took second place last weekend in the Professional Floral Artist of the Year design competition at the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show.
Treichel first became interested in flower arranging through her horticulture and related classes with Jessica Lupkes at Princeton High School. She graduated from PHS in 2008 and then attended Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park where she obtained her certificate as a floral designer in 2009. Treichel has been employed full-time as a floral designer at Forever Floral in Coon Rapids since her graduation from Hennepin Tech.
The competition is held annually at Koehler & Dramm in Minneapolis. It is an opportunity for professional
floral designers to interpret a designated theme, follow specific guidelines and be critiqued by designers, who themselves continued and now have the distinguished American Institute of Floral Design (AIFD) credential.
The final phase of competition was held Saturday, March 3 at the Home and Garden Show in Minneapolis.
