The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is taking a break this year from Princeton.
But Princeton Speedway will have two other sprint car events in its season that begins April 20 and ends Aug. 31.
The first sprint event will be Friday, June 1, featuring the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series. The other will be something called Micro Sprints on Friday, July 27.
Both events will have a different admission than the regular race night.
All the race nights are on Friday, with open practices scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Saturdays of April 21, 28, and May 5, 12, and 19.
The quarter-mile oval clay track is at the county fairgrounds in Princeton. Speedway manager Nikki Elton told the city council that she would try to get the races to end each race night by 11 p.m. But the two nights with the sprint series will run later, she said.
The race schedule is affected by rainfalls and last year the speedway had eight cancellations due to rain. That was a record number of cancellations in one year for the speedway, she said.
