Doris was born on May 30, 1946 in Berry, Ala., daughter of Tolbert and Laura (Griffin) Curington. She attended elementary school in Alabama until the family moved to Chicago. She was united in marriage with Lawrence F. Herron on July 7, 1967 in St. Paul. They made their home in Blaine.
She worked as a supervisor at Assurance Manufacturing of Fridley, now Modern Tool of Coon Rapids, until moving to Florida in 1986, where she was production supervisor and assembled prototypes for Optronics Laboratories in Orlando. Her husband died in 1997 and she returned to Minnesota, settling in the Andover/Ham Lake area.
She enjoyed reading, Bingo and camping (both tent and later camper). She especially enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren. She had also been involved in raising her nieces and nephew: Tammy Williams, Raenell Herron and James Herron; a grandson: Larry Herron and many foster children.
She is survived by: her son: Mike (Michaelle) Herron of Princeton; grandchildren Amber Herron Kupka, Christopher Manker, Larry Herron, Meghan Herron, Diana Herron and Brittney Herron; great-grandchildren Cordelia and Gennavieve Kupka and Eli and Carson Herron; two brothers: Justin “Jack” Lollar of Metropolis, IL and Charles “Charlie” Curington of Metropolis, Ill; sisters Charlotte Davis of Westchester, Ill., Mary Shepard of Harvard, Ill., Ruby Nelson of Metropolis, Ill., Betty Curington of Metropolis, Ill. and Cathy Lindholm of Oregon City, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tolbert and Laura Curington; her husband Lawrence F. Herron in 1997; two sons: an infant and Lawrence R. Herron (three years ago); and sisters Darlene Brewster and Willadean Kirby.
