One business, one committee and 16 individuals received honors at this year’s Distinguished Service Awards banquet, held as part of the Rum River Festival.
Here are the organizations giving the honors, and the recipients:
n Knights of Columbus, a support group for Christ Our Light Catholic parish – Bernie Zeroth for his work in the sanctuary environment.
n Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce – Honorees were the Princeton Visionary Committee, the Scott Berry Law Office and just-retired Princeton School District Director of Business Services Carol Breitkreutz.
n American Legion Post 216 – member Jim Dery was awarded a life membership for his long service at the post.
n American Legion Auxiliary – Erna Deglmann as life member for her long service, Pam Schlagel as woman of the year, and Sharon Almberg as Poppy Queen.
n Mille Lacs County Historical Society – Cyrus Wolff, a local teen who as part of an Eagle Scout project, organized a large portion of the Historical Society’s photos.
n Living and Learning Committee – recipients were PHS instructor Ingiri Milam and United States Distilled Products. Pam McElhone accepted on behalf of USDP. The committee fosters a better understanding of the connection between education and the workplace.
n Order of Eastern Star (OES) Kedron Chapter 120 – Larry Reed, who is the current Master at the local Masonic Lodge and also a member of the OES, has spent most of his life in both organizations.
n Mille Lacs County Agricultural Society, also known as the fair board: retiring board members– longtime board secretary Judy Gerth, Steve Ouverson and Helene Peetz.
n Princeton City Park and Recreation advisory board – Rick Johnson, owner/operator of West Branch Construction for donating work at the parks.
n Civic Betterment Club – Maureen Gould as a distinguished member.
n Princeton VFW Auxiliary – Helen Stark as Sweetheart Queen.
