Rep. Sondra Erickson (R-Princeton) has filed to run for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 15A. Erickson currently serves
Erickson said her 2012 theme is “Keeping Minnesota on the Upswing” and that she will focus on policies to create jobs in the private sector in addition to promoting limited government, individual responsibility, fiscal restraint, free markets and excellence in education.
“I believe that a limited government will keep us free and protect our liberty,” she said.
“During the 2011-2012 session the GOP-led legislature made remarkable progress in reforming government by limiting its scope and making it more effective and cost-efficient through agency and operation consolidation, state employee health-care audits and early detection of fraud.
Erickson believes that it is not good policy to raise taxes, especially on job-creators. “In fact, the best way to improve the economy is to get a grip on spending and reform the tax code (my 2011-12 flat tax proposal needs discussion),” she emphasized.
Reforms in pre-K-12 education must also dominate in 2012-2014 like they did in the past session, Erickson said. She pointed out that under her leadership, as chair of Education Policy/Reform, about 20 reforms – in both policy and funding – were signed into law by the governor.
The new district consists of all of Mille Lacs County, seven townships in Kanabec County including the city of Ogilvie, and two townships in Sherburne County – Blue Hill and Baldwin.
Erickson lives in Princeton Township. Her website is www.sondraerickson.com.
