Golden Arches heading for Milaca?
If all goes according to plans, Milaca should have a McDonald’s next year.
It would be located on a city-owned site north of Highway 23 and north of the Dairy Queen.
Plans are for it to be similar to the Mora McDonald’s in that another tenant will be in the two-unit building. That tenant is unknown at this time.
City Manager Greg Lerud said in an interview Monday that the building of about 4,000 square feet will be located on an approximately two-acre site that the city acquired more than 20 years ago.
Land & Lease Development, Hinckley, has agreed to pay $1,000 for the option on the land and the city will sell the land for $50,000.
Lerud said negotiations with the company had gone on for less than a month.
The company typically investigates sites, purchases the property, constructs the building and leases it to the owner.
Brian Weidendorf, from Land & Lease Development, told Milaca City Council members at their June 14 meeting that his company will survey the site, look at utilities, conduct soil borings and make sure there are no issues with the property.
Plans are for construction to begin next spring.
