Princeton High School tennis player Isaiah Mayerchak was crowned the consolation runner-up at the Minnesota State High School tennis tournament at the University of Minnesota.
Mayerchak split in two games Thursday at the Baseline Tennis Center to get into the consolation round.
On Thursday, Mayerchak began his day facing Burke Anderson of Centennial High School and lost 6-4, 6-1.
Mayerchak then went on to face Rochester Mayo’s Eric Rustad. Mayerchak lost the opening game 4-6, but rebounded with 6-4, 6-3 wins to move into Friday’s consolation semi-finals.
Mayerchak faced St. Cloud Tech’s Riley Bates in his opening match in the consolation bracket Friday, defeating bates in three games. He opened with a 4-6 loss before rebounding with 6-4 and 7-5 victories.
He then went on to face Manfred Barrios of Hopkins in the consolation finals where he lost 7-5, 6-1.
