An Elk River man is facing up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine after being charged with breaking into a vehicle at a church in Princeton.
Twenty-two-year-old Brett Michael Wood is accused of breaking into a car in the Christ Our Light church parking lot on March 1. Wood was allegedly observed by police officers walking from an area near where the vehicle had been parked. His boots had similar tread patterns to footprints left in the fresh snow.
An officer approached Wood. Wood allegedly had in his possession a set of burglars tools, five hypodermic needles, a garage door opener, an MP3 player, house keys, a bag of beef sticks and an energy drink. A day later Wood was identified as a suspect in a theft at a used car lot on Rum River Drive. He was arrested and booked into the Mille Lacs County Jail.
