Louie was born on May 5, 1933, in Oakes, N.D., the son of Carl and Rose (Kelly) Pfeifer. He grew up and was educated in Oakes. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1952 to June 1955, spending part of his time in France. He received his discharge on July 31, 1962.
He was united in marriage with JoAnn Snee on June 3, 1961, in Minneapolis. They made their home in south Minneapolis and Louie worked as a tilesetter with Twin City Tile for 13 years and then with the Grazzini Brothers Tile Company. The family moved in 1971, purchasing 80 acres on Sandy Lake near Zimmerman, which they farmed, raising a variety of livestock, including beef cattle, chickens, pigs, horses. Louie and JoAnn stopped farming in 1983.
Louie also worked with the Princeton School District from 1976 to June 1995, as a custodian, retiring to spend time with his upcoming grandchildren. He enjoyed putzing in the yard, time on the lake, woodworking and construction. He built two homes for the family.
On January 25, 2007, Louie suffered a stroke and was a resident of the Elim Care & Rehab Center facility in Princeton since.
Louie is survived by his wife JoAnn of Princeton; daughter Roseanne (Barnes) Pfeifer of Princeton; son Edward (Susan) Pfeifer of Woodbury; grandchildren Kelly Barnes, Leah Barnes, Emma Pfeifer and Lucas Pfeifer; and sister Catherine Fabre of San Jose, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and eight brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 3 and for one hour before services on Saturday, August 4 at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 4 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton.
Burial will be in St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery, Princeton.
