Robert W. Joel, age 41 of Princeton, died unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 2012.
Robert was born Nov. 15, 1970 in Fairmont. He grew up in Princeton. graduating from Princeton High School in 1989.
Robert enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 with tours in Panama and Montana as a security specialist.
He was a Gulf War veteran and was very proud to have served his country.
He was a dedicated detention deputy for Anoka county for 15 years, where he received several letters of exemplary service. He looked forward to retiring at the age of 54.
Since childhood he enjoyed hunting with his father and had planned to travel to more Nascar races.
As a devoted father, he attended his daughter Ashley’s life events, rain or shine, even taking her to Yankee Stadium.
Robert is survived by his loving daughter Ashley Lynn, mother Celeste, sister Lenora (Jerry) Wellman, nephews Brennan and Alec, niece Mikayla, special aunts and uncles, cousins and special friends.
He was recently preceded in death by his father Robert, Sr. on Jan. 13, 2012.
A memorial service has been held. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Northwoods Humane Society.
