Princeton began the Granite Ridge girls swim & dive dual meet season with a 98-88 victory over rival Milaca Sept. 13. Big points gathered at the beginning of the meet, coupled with a strong finish, held off the host Wolves.
“We started the meet well– a 1st-3rd in the 200 Medley Relay, an unexpected 1st-2nd-3rd in the 200 Free, followed by a 1st-2nd in the 200 IM,” said Tiger Coach Sarah Schuppenhauer. “Then we finished strongly with a 1st-2nd in the Backstroke and 1st-3rd in the 400 Relay.”
Claire Barthel, Megan Hancer Amanda Groebner and Montana Lawrence teamed to win the 200 Medley (2:06.4). Julia Woodward (2.21), Hancer (2:27) and Hannah Middleton (2:28) swept the top spots in the 200 Free. Chasing each other to lead the 200 IM were Barthel (2:31) and Lawrence (2:32– personal-best).
Groebner kept her strong meet going by scoring 184.95 points to win Diving and won the 100 Butterfly at 1:09.1.
• The Tigers are 1-2 in overall duals after host St. Cloud Apollo won 97-89 Sept. 11 and host Big Lake won another non-conference meet 95-81 Sept. 18.
