The Princeton girls tennis squad put together a great match when they defeated visiting Foley 4-3 in a thriller which determined the Granite Ridge championship Sept. 25. The conference crown was the first for the Tigers girls since 1999 in the former Rum River Conference.

Setting the stage were two GRC victories for Princeton last week: 6-1 over Becker Sept. 18 where the singles players swept their matches, and 7-0 over Little Falls on Sept. 20.

• At Saturday’s St. Francis Invite, the Tigers tested themselves against two Section 7AA northern powers, falling to Duluth East 5-2 and 4-3 to Grand Rapids.
