Princeton girls soccer continued its amazing run in the late season by racking up its fourth straight shut out after defeating visiting St. John’s Prep 4-0 Sept. 27. The Tigers allowed just one shot on goal in the first half and are undefeated in their last 11 games (with two ties in the mix).

Maggie Peterson scored the lone goal of the first half off a Suzi Voce assist. Picking up Tiger goals in the second half were Alanna Mattson, Ashley Schramel and Bridget Walters.

Princeton travels to Big Lake on Saturday, then it’s the huge Granite Ridge rematch at St. Cloud Cathedral Oct. 2.

Coach Heidi Finstad on the Crusaders: “Cathedral is more like us than other teams we have played. They can move the ball well and defend well, and they have several girls who can score. It has always been a grudge match with them. Two of the last three games have ended in a tie. I believe both teams are fully aware of what this game means. This is the type of game that we work all year for.”

Granite Ridge Girls Soccer: Princeton 7-0-1, 9-2-2; St. Cloud Cathedral 7-0-1, 9-2-1; St. John’s Prep 5-3, 9-5; Zimmerman 3-4, 6-8; Little Falls 1-6, 2-9-1; Becker 0-8, 2-11

GRC Volleyball: St. Cloud Cathedral 3, Princeton 0

The Crusaders dropped the Tigers’ conference record to 3-5 by winning in three games at Princeton Sept. 27: 25-16, 26-16, 25-10.
