Roland Keena

Roland “Red” Oliver Keena went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2012 at the age of 79.  

He was born to Frank and Ella (Marshall) Keena on September 21, 1932 in Hamilton, N.D. He graduated from high school in Thief River Falls. He was united in marriage to Evadene Mattson on June 10, 1958.

He was a family man.  He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. He loved to travel and to spend the winters in Florida. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a winter member at the Church of the Nazarene in Miami.

He was an outdoors man. He loved fishing, camping and hunting.  He was an avid bowler and a member of the Princeton bowlers Hall of Fame and also a past president of the Minnesota State Bowling Association and a member of the state bowling hall of fame.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mille Lacs County Fair Board.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; son Michael, of Miami, daughters Cindy Keena, Laurie Keena (Pat Reynolds), and Nancie (Phil) Wever, Minneapolis; Dorinda (Joe) Pavel, Cottage Grove; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister Patricia (Gary) Orton, Foreston; four brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Red was preceded in death by his parents and brothers George, Raymond and Charles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday Sept. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church Princeton. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m.
