Should Minnesota join the States that believe marriage should be between one man and one woman?
The September 6 issue of the Princeton Union-Eagle had an article titled, “Should churches get involved in political issues, such as the marriage amendment?”
Isn’t marriage more a social issue than a political one?
As such, it is one in which churches/church people should definitely be involved.
Marriage between one man and one woman was instituted long before there was politics!
The Bible, the record that starts “in the beginning,” says, “God created man…male and female He created them,” Genesis 1:27. In more detail God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him,” Gen 2:18. “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man,” Gen. 2:22. This demonstrates God’s plan for marriage – one man and one woman.
Jesus said, when asked about marriage, “Haven’t you read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother an be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?’ So they are no longer two, but one, Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate,” Matthew 19:4-6.
Instead of teaching and encouraging diversity and tolerance, which seems to be intolerance, about sexual relationships, we should be endeavoring to strengthen the natural, God-ordained plan for marriage.
Or do we need to be reminded that Almighty God is not patient forever? Remember the Flood (Gen. 6-8), the Tower of Babel (Gen 11), Sodom and Gomorrah, (Gen. 19) and the nation of Israel - conquered and exiled for failing to live according to God’s plan (2 Kings 24 and 25).
Let’s go the right way and support the Marriage Amendment.
