Princeton boys soccer’s play against visiting Little Falls Sept. 20 was a measuring stick to the team’s growth this autumn. Falling to the Flyers 12-1 back on Sept. 4, the Tigers brought fire and athleticism to the field when LF won 6-1.

Princeton struck first in the Granite Ridge matchup when co-captains Ryan Smith and Korben Weidenborner combined on a nice give-and go goal 30 seconds into the match, with Smith putting a through pass right on Weidenborner’s foot. Eight minutes later, the Flyers began an onslaught of shots on the Tiger net, but Tiger keeper Reid Eggen held tough. He dove out to knock the ball away during a two-man rush, snared a zipping one-hopper and caught a left-side liner during that stretch.

 •  On Saturday, section-partner Two Harbors slipped past the Tigers 1-0 in an up-and-down game up north.

Granite Ridge Boys Soccer: St. Cloud Cathedral 3-0, 7-0; St. John’s Prep 3-1, 7-4; Little Falls 2-1, 2-4; Becker 1-4, 3-7; Princeton 0-5, 0-10
