Tiger tennis tied for 1st after beating Crusaders

Princeton girls tennis christened the new courts at Princeton High Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13, then the Tigers picked up a huge Granite Ridge victory by holding off visiting St. Cloud Cathedral 4-3 in the feature show.

“A big highlight was Hannah Johnson and Reilee Schepper’s win at third doubles after they lost to that team earlier in the year,” said Tiger Coach Kelly Dorr. “We also received outstanding team work and communication at second doubles from Hailey Wheeler and Hannah Osborn.”

• At Saturday’s Blaine Invite, the Tigers went 2-1. They defeated Rogers 4-3 and North Branch 7-0, with the lone loss at the hands of Blaine (5-2). The JV team defeated Rogers and North Branch on Saturday in North Branch.

In their other GRC action last week, the Princeton girls knocked off host Pine City 5-2 Sept. 11 and topped Becker 6-1 Sept. 18. On Tuesday, Sept. 25, the Tigers host Foley in a battle for the Granite Ridge tennis lead.
