Walmart will open an office in Princeton on Monday, Oct. 29 to begin taking applications for the approximately 200 job openings in the company’s new Princeton store.
The store, located in the southwest quadrant of the interchange of Highways 95 and 169 in Princeton, is currently scheduled to open Feb. 6.
Applicants will be applying at the hiring office, located on Rum River Drive next to Great Clips and ACE Hardware, or online from home computers by going to www.walmart.com/apply, Gould said.
More than half of the jobs will be full-time positions, Gould said. Some retirees around town have talked about applying to be a greeter at the new Walmart store.
The greeters that Walmart has now are different than the days when the Walmart greeter would spend all their time just inside the store’s front doors, Gould said. Today people in that position are greeting customers and offering them assistance, he said.
The Princeton Walmart will be open 24 hours a day and will have 19 regular checkout registers, including three registers in the garden center, plus four self-checkout registers.
The hiring office will be open Monday morning at 9 a.m.
A new Walmart store will be opening this Friday, Oct. 26 in St. Cloud, in the location of a former Sam’s Club on Second Street South near 33rd Avenue.
