Barthel continues strong season for Tiger swimmers

Senior returning state-entrant Claire Barthel put in another good week of work to lead the Princeton girls swim and dive team’s two meets last week.

On Thursday against Albany at home, Barthel marked three first places in the 100 Backstroke (1:04.5), 200 IM (2:31.8) and on the 200 Medley Relay. Saturday at the Cambridge-Isanti Sholund Invite, she posted a win in the 100 Backstroke while also being on the fourth-place 200 Free and fifth-place 400 Free relays.

“The 100 Backstroke was a really pretty race, especially since Claire has not been feeling well.  She’s been working on her stroke, and it showed,” noted PHS Asst. Coach Lindsy Paurus.

Also at the C-I Invite, where the Tigers finished fourth, Montana Lawrence cut five seconds off her 500 Free time by placing second at a personal-best 5:32.6. Diver Megan Gourley totaled a personal-best 312.8 for third place, and teammate Amanda Groebner was just back in fifth at 297.6.
