Eldon Ott

Eldon  (Eldy) William Ott died  September 28 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born at home on January 18, 1941 in Princeton.

Eldon left home at age 16 to work on a neighboring farm and enlisted in the army in March, 1959 after he turned 18.  He served in France for 2 1/2 years where his service was extended for 26 days because the Berlin Wall was going up.  Eldon was discharged in April, 1962 and came back to Big Lake to work as a mechanic for his brother.  It’s here that he met Beverly LaDew and they married in March of 1963.

Eldon went to work with UPS  in 1963 and was transferred to Rochester in 1965. He retired from UPS in 1994 and then worked part time for 10 years when he went into full retirement.  Eldy loved his grandchildren and playing games with them, motorcycling, riding in his T-bird convertible, gambling  and playing cards with friends.

Eldon is survived by his wife; daughters Donna Rosenblad and Barbara (Ronnie) Grandison; grandchildren Eric and Kelly Rosenblad, Baihley, Ronni, Naomi, Elisee’ and Eliana Grandison; and sisters Arlene (Joseph) Horvath, Doris (Jack) Goldner, and Joyce (Henry) Bost.  He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Stella (Fullwiler) Ott, sister Jeanne (Bernie) Rosen and brothers Orvin, Alvin, and Ronald.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 at Community Celebration Church, 27401 County Highway 34, Kasson.  There will be a military burial on Monday, October 8.
