Princeton boys soccer season came to a close when host Proctor won 5-1 in the Section 7A play-in game on Oct. 11. The game marked the last for Tiger senior co-captains Tyler Leverty, Korben Weidenborner and Ryan Smith.
In Saturday’s quarterfinals, No. 5 seed Proctor was defeated by Chisago Lakes 1-0.
In the Oct. 16 semifinals in 7A boys soccer are No. 1 Duluth Marshall beat No. 4 Chisago Lakes 4-2, and No. 2 Denfeld topped Grand Rapids 2-1 in the shootout.
The 7A boys championship will be Oct. 18 (7 p.m.) on Chisago Lakes’ turf.
Thunder rolls past PHS volleyball
Neighboring rival Zimmerman swept the season series with Princeton volleyball by winning the Oct. 11 Granite Ridge match in three: 25-10, 27-25, 26-24.
Albany, in their first year in the GRC, clinched the conference title by taking down St. Cloud Cathedral on Oct. 11.
The Tigers closed the regular season with their Oct. 16 home match with Becker.
Their next action will be the Section 7AAA tourney which gets under way Oct. 24. The Tigers were seeded 12th and will play at No. 5 Andover on the 24th (7 p.m.). The Huskies are the five-time defending champions in 7AAA.
