An invitation to the Princeton community

This Saturday, November 17, the Princeton High School Concert Choir will perform at the fall conference of the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota (ACDA-MN). This is a tremendous honor for the ensemble, our school and Princeton as a whole. As a frame of reference for those unfamiliar with ACDA or the Minnesota choral music world, this accomplishment is on par with a state championship in athletics. We hope you will consider joining us for the performance and enjoying the results of years of work by these fantastic students!

ACDA-MN is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year with its statewide conference. Concert Choir will appear as one of nine auditioned ensembles in presenting its own unique half-hour program. The performance will occur at Benson Great Hall (Bethel University, Arden Hills) on Saturday, November 17, as part of the 9:00 a.m. concert series. Also participating in this block will be Le Donne (Wayne Kivell, conductor) from Northfield, the Buffalo High School Concert Choir (Michael Walsh, conductor), and René Clausen, conductor of the world famous Concordia Choir. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and tickets can be purchased at the door. Seating will begin at 8:30 a.m. Concert Choir’s program will feature folk songs from the Western hemisphere and include selections sung in Spanish, English, Creole, Portuguese, and native Peruvian and Ute dialects. It will also welcome alumni Jack Youso, Ben Kampa and Jon Fillafer to serve as guest instrumentalists on several pieces.

Turnout at Saturday’s football game was fantastic. Friday is sure to be the same. It would be marvelous if Princeton had an another amazing showing of community support for this special event. On behalf of the entire school district, I cordially invite you to attend.

Mark Potvin,

Choral director
