Indiana couple charged with fishing over the limit
A Gary, Ind. couple are facing criminal charges for possessing a fish catch over the legal limit.
David Johnson, 59, and Rosa Johnson, 56, both of Gary, Ind., are facing a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine for the July 10 offense.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mille Lacs County District Court, an anonymous tipster directed a conservation officer to a resort on Mille Lacs Lake where the hot temperatures were causing a strong odor of fish, potentially beginning to spoil. The officer found a cooler outside the Johnsons’ cabin. Inside were 150 sunfish and 18 large mouth bass. They were 110 fish over the limit on the sunnys and six fish over the limit on the bass.
The Johnsons are scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on November 13.
