Leonard re-elected to county board

Longtime Sherburne County Commissioner Rachel Leonard was re-elected Nov. 6 over challenger Wendy Kowalski.

Leonard, who has been a Sherburne commissioner since 2001, and is in the newly-configured District 5, had 4,537 votes to Kowalski’s 2,748. District 5 takes in the city of Zimmerman, Baldwin Township, most of Livonia Township and the Sherburne part of Princeton.

Retired Sherburne County Sheriff Bruce Anderson is getting onto the board, having defeated Sherburne commissioner Larry Farber for the District 1 seat. The district covers most of Elk River.
