Brown to take lead on environment, energy policy
(ST. PAUL) – Last week, State Senator Dave Brown (R-Becker) received his committee assignments for the 2013 legislative session. Brown, who was elected to his second term in the Minnesota Senate in November, will serve as the top Republican member on the Senate Environment and Energy Committee. He will also serve on the Commerce Committee and the Health and Human Services Division of the Finance Committee.
“I am happy with committee assignments. I look forward to continuing my work on commerce, healthcare and human services policies,” said Brown. “I am honored to serve as the Ranking Republican on the Senate Environment and Energy Committee. Energy issues are particularly important to our district and are becoming relevant across the nation as resources become more limited. As the lead Republican on the committee, I will work to diversify our energy portfolio while protecting our state’s natural resources. We must put together a stable, long-range plan that provides certainty for investments, utilizes innovative energy technology and grows Minnesota’s economy.”
The Senate will convene at noon on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. The primary job during this year’s session will be to balance the budget for the upcoming two-year budget cycle.
Brown was re-elected in November to the newly reconfigured Senate District 15, which includes parts of Benton, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne & Wright counties. Brown welcomes comments and questions and can be reached by telephone at (651)296-8075, by mail at 109 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155, or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
