Zayda Mae Kriesel was born on April 16, 1930 in Fargo, N.D., the daughter of Henry and Rachel (Bower) Gustafson. Zayda completed high school and worked many jobs throughout her life. The one common theme in all of her work was helping others. She had a passion for nursing and worked as a nurse’s aide. She also worked in bookkeeping.
She met her husband Bob Kriesel after his military service and they were married on April 16, 1956, Zayda’s 26th birthday.
Zayda was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Crown, the Kriesel-Jacobsen Post 560 American Legion Auxiliary in Zimmerman and later a member of the Faith Community Lutheran Church in Zimmerman.
Zayda is survived by her son Keith (Sherry) Kriesel of Zimmerman; grandchildren Shawna (Kevin) Gallus, Christina (Travis) Simons; great granddaughter Alexandra Gallus; loving brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert I. Kriesel; brother Clifford Gustafson; parents Henry and Rachel Gustafson; stepfather Clarence Gustafson; and niece Mary Gustafson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on January 21 at Faith Community Lutheran Church in Zimmerman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown parish.
