No. 2 seed St. Cloud Cathedral, playing a physical brand of hockey, ended the Princeton boys’ season with a 7-2 win in the Section 5A semifinals Feb. 23 at the St. Cloud MAC. SCC junior Austin Poganski scored four goals to lead his team in the victory.

Dan Voce’s goal at the 9:31 mark of the first period had Princeton tied at 1-1. Poganski answered with power play goals late in the first period and on a 5-on-3 in the second period for a 3-1 edge. The Crusaders then netted shots 2:30 apart to start the third for what turned into an insurmountable 5-1 addvantage.

The Crusaders will take on No. 1 seed Hermantown  in the 5A finals March 1 in Champlin Park. The Hawks shut out No. 4 Rogers 9-0 in their semifinal match.
