Gerald J. Nelson
Gerald J. Nelson, age 75 of Santiago, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home.
Jerry was born January 25, 1938 in St. Paul, the son of Bill and 
Stella (Hartigan) Nelson.
Jerry graduated from Mechanic Arts in St. Paul.
He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was employed at National Wire Company before beginning his career at Northern States Power
in 1967. He worked at the High Bridge Plant, went to Inver Hills in 1973, and then joined Sherco in 1975. He retired from Xcel Energy in 2003.
Jerry enjoyed spending his time volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Adopt a Family, Salvation Army, and American Cancer Society. He enjoyed the game of
golf, fishing, manicuring his lawn, special moments with family and friends, and quiet times with his dogs.
Jerry is survived by Jude and her parents Bernard and Arlyss Abrahamson of Santiago; brother Bill (Mar) Nelson; sisters Mary Walsh, Lydie Welsch and
Karen (Mike) Brimmer; along with many nieces and nephews; and man’s best friends Missy, Sammy, Rascal, Shadow, Champ, and Brody.
A gathering of family and friends was held on February 2 at Bailey Ray’s Roadhouse in Santiago
