Eugene Schmidt

Eugene Bryson Schmidt, passed away May 12, 2013.
Eugene was a native to Princeton, graduated, then joined the National Guard. His company was called for the Korean Conflict. He was married to his high school sweetheart Marian Schlekau for 47 years. He was a union electrician for 55 years. Gene loved tinkering; he built two campers (one on a hearse). He loved to vacation with his family and traveled all over the U.S. The trips included sightseeing, fishing trips to Canada and he also participated in annual Army reunions. He was an avid card player, deer hunter, family mechanical counselor, “Dial Grandpa.” He also was willing to joke and play with ten great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and we all love him.
He was preceded in death by loving wife Marian, brother Lloyd and sister Ruth.
Eugene is survived by children Ruth (Luke)Havumaki, Rod (Emily) Schmidt, Marilyn (Butch) Kluver, Alan (Laura) Schmidt; grandchildren Bryson (Christina) Havumaki, Catrina Havumaki, Anna Havumaki, Nora Schmidt, Erica Schmidt, Molly (Ryan) Sorenson, Mary (DJ) Kittelson, Danny (Jenel) Palm, Bobbi (Josh) Steidl, Johan (Amanda) Schmidt, Kimberly Schmidt, and April Schmidt and by ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 7 p.m. with a visitation starting at 5 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Fridley. Burial services will be Friday May 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery
