Princeton Speedway opener kicks off 2013 season

Princeton Speedway, the fastest quarter mile on dirt, kicked off its 2013 race season this past Friday with a rousing opening ceremony consisting of the Princeton Boy Scout Color Guard and patriotic pieces consisting of “God Bless America” sung by Amanda Whitcomb and the “National Anthem” sung by the Princeton High School Choir. The pre-race ceremonies were complete with a fly-over by a WWII AT-6 flown by Chuck Datko.

In addition to the pre-race ceremonies, Princeton Speedway had a new look. The Speedway unveiled its Jr. Fan Club and offered inflatable bouncies to keep the kids active. Two new food options were also added with Finish Line and Blue Star Kettle Corn, as well as a track staple with 4-H selling snacks to feed the 1,000-plus fans at opening night.

Eighty-six drivers took to the Speedway to challenge the track. At the end of the night, the drivers and fans were pleased with the condition of the track and great dirt track racing it offered.

May 17 is “Armed Forces Night” at the Princeton Speedway. Pre-race ceremonies commence at 6:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7:00 p.m.
