Young scaveners Caleb (right), Colby (left) and Brenden ( being held by Colby) accept their $100 check from Interim Chamber director Jim Oliver after the boys found the Rum River Festival Medallion on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

When Colby, Caleb and their little brother Brenden heard Wednesday’s clue in the Rum River Festival medallion hunt, the ran with their Mom Jenny Handshoe to Princeton’s Riverside Park.

Park here and play… or bring your pole and fish all day.

They looked for the medallion near the playground. They looked by the river, too. The boys looked under picnic tables — and inside and outside of the grills standing in the park.

It wasn’t until the boys went up by the memorial to veterans that Lady Luck began working in their favor. When Colby looked behind the memorial he saw something covered in duct tape. It was the medallion.

The boys claimed their $100 prize at the officer of the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce. With their winnings, Colby is eying a remote control car. Caleb wants a new toy monster truck. Young Brenden want a new Batman action figure,
