Bernard F. Volker age 93 of Princeton passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Elim Home in Princeton, MN. Bernard Fredrick Volker was born February 17, 1920, at home, in Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs County, MN, the son of Clemens and Emma (Schmidt) Volker.
Bernard attended country school at Estes Brook. He joined the Army Air Force and served from 1942 to 1945. Bernard served in World War II in France and Germany. When he returned from WWII, he farmed for a while and then went to work in the iron mines in Coleraine, MN. He later worked at Franklin in St. Cloud. He was also employed at Char-Gale, Arsenal, and Federal Cartridge in Anoka from 1965 to 1982 when he retired.
Bernard loved cars and owned many during his lifetime. He loved talking about them. Bernard also enjoyed a good meal. He especially loved eating fresh sweet corn.
Bernard is survived by his brother; Clemens (Emma Reibestein) Volker of Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs County, MN; Nieces and Nephews; Sharon (Pat) Moenkhaus of Isle, MN, Sandy (Richard) Bronson of Princeton, MN, Rosanne (George) Bronson of Junction City, OR, Ron Volker of Princeton, MN, Arnold (Teena) Volker of Clearbrook, MN, Louise (Bob) Bukoskey of Mesa, AZ, Barb (Jim) Kilpatrick of Isanti, MN, Pam (Ken) Spangler of Grand Rapids, MN, Julie (Ron) Martin of Bovey, MN and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Emma Volker, Sisters, Dorothy Wicktor and Marilyn Wourms; an infant brother Joseph; a niece Judy Volker and a nephew Chuck Wicktor.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Christ Our Light Catholic Parish-North Campus in Princeton, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at the Greenbush Cemetery in Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs County, MN.
