James Stanley (Jim) Lee, CDR, USN (Ret.), age 76, died at home on September 8, 2013, attended by his wife and daughters, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Milaca, attended Princeton High School and St. Olaf College, prior to his Navy commissioning in 1959. He served for 26 years, retiring in 1985.
He went on to a career in real estate, and was an active and engaged member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church community in San Diego, Calif. He moved from San Diego back to Minnesota in 2008 to be closer to his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, brother and son.
His gentle strength and warmth impacted those he met. Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vivi-Ann, his daughters Karen and Liz (Jason) Stanton, grandchildren Linnea and Adam Stanton, and sisters Alice (Gary) McDougall, Joyce ( Andy) Conlin and Glennys Reynolds.
Memorial service to celebrate Jims life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at Easter Lutheran Church, 4200 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan.
A private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be held September 23.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to St. Olaf College, Northfield.
