Ida Belle Swanson, age 99 of Princeton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Elim Home in Princeton.
Ida was born on November 3, 1913, in Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs County, the daughter of Bernard Sr. and Belle (Groff) Jones. Ida was united in marriage to Byrtle Swanson on July 26, 1933 in Milaca.
Idas number one love was her family. She always had time for her family and enjoyed family get-togethers and spending summers with her grandchildren. Ida always kept busy; she enjoyed fishing, taking trips, gardening, dancing, cooking and planning picnics. Ida was a straight forward person and would tell it like it is.
Ida was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW. She also spent many hours doing volunteer work for the Mille Lacs County Historical Society, Elim Home, Used Clothing Center and Glendorado Lutheran Church. Ida loved people and enjoyed living life.
Ida is survived by her children, Duane (Kathy) Swanson of Cross Lake, Ralph (LaVerne) Swanson of Princeton, Jeanette Spraguer of Princeton, Delbert (Sharon) Swanson of Oak Park, Melvin (MaryAnn) Swanson of Milaca and Judy (Jerry) Foyen of Princeton; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Byrtle; grandson Stephen; 5 siblings; and a son-in-law Paul Spraguer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Gods Greater Glory Parish-Glendorado Lutheran Church in Princeton. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Glendorado Lutheran Cemetery in rural Princeton.
