Princeton’s defense stepped up on a windy Sept. 27 Homecoming night when the Tigers knocked off visiting Buffalo 21-14. The win improved the Tigers’ season record to 3-2.
A great job on the opening kickoff coverage and a Wyatt Ross sack on Buffalo’s first series led to great field position when Princeton first got the ball. The offense rolled the 36 yards on runs from AJ Wesloh and Cole Warren, setting up Sam Archer’s 6-inch QB sneak for a 7-0 lead.
Buffalo was stymied deep in their territory on the next series, too, but the Bison rolled on an 80-yard drive, tying the game at 7-7 on Levi Bean’ 20-yard TD just into the second quarter. Two series later, Archer hit Billy McClay perfectly on a slant which turned into a 45-yard scoring play and a 14-7 Tiger lead at the half.
After the Bison tied it in the third quarter, Princeton put the game away on a two-yard Archer run in the fourth quarter.
