If you’re looking to add a little spice to your life, head to downtown Princeton Saturday for the Eighth Annual Chili Fest.
About a dozen teams of chili cooks are expected to compete in this year’s competition, according to Michelle Sarazin, executive director of the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Chili Fest is moving back to its original location — Princeton Mall — after spending last year at Riverside Plaza, or the north mall. The event, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., will also feature the annual Salsa competition.
Other favorites, like the best decorated chili booth, sidewalk chalk competition and scarecrow contest are also slated to return.
But its changes to Chili Fest in 2013 that are sure to catch the eye of some event goers.
“We’ve kept the old favorites and made the event kid and family friendly,” Sarazin said.
That includes the new kids games. Princeton businesses and organizations are stepping up and hosting their own games this year.
“They’re sponsoring the game, and providing the staff and prizes. It’s a great way for them to advertise their business or organization,” Sarazin said.
Also new will be live musical entertainment. The locally popular BLT Band will take to the Chili Fest stage for the entire four hours of the festival, Sarazin said.
There will be food vendors on hand and that great chili accompaniment, beer, which will be poured at the Jaycee’s beer garden.
