City preliminary levy set

The Princeton City Council approved a $2.163 million proposed tax levy for 2014. That’s about $32,000 less than the proposed levy approved a year ago for 2013. Under a proposal presented by Finance Director Steve Jackson, the city has a proposed operating budget of $3.288 million in the general fund for 2014. The proposed levy includes $35,000 for tax abatement, $112,500 for debt service, $17,895 for the Economic Development Authority, and $2.016 million for the general levy — which includes the Economic Development Authority.
