An 18-year-old Princeton woman was killed on Highway 95 Monday when a vehicle was hit broadside by a truck that had run a stop sign.

Hannah Middleton, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 5:50 p.m. on Highway 95 and Mille Lacs County Road 7 (160th Street.)

Middleton was a 2013 graduate of Princeton High School and a standout swimmer on the high school’s 2012 girls swimming team. She was a passenger in a 2007 Saturn Ion eastbound towards Princeton at the time of the crash. The Saturn was driven by┬áNathan D. Beehler, 18 of St. Cloud.

A 1999 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Jerad Peterson, age 33 of Ogilvie, was north on Mille Lacs County Road 7 and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 95. The truck hit the Saturn broadside on the passenger side of the car where Middleton was a passenger. The crash sent both vehicles into the ditch on the northeast side of Highway 95. A witness at the scene said Peterson struck the Beehler vehicle at full speed.

Peterson and Beehler suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Fairview Northland Regional Medical Center in Princeton.

All three crash victims were wearing seat belts and airbags were deployed in both vehicles, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Traffic on Highway 95 was rerouted for hours while the crash was under investigation.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Department, the Princeton Police Department, Princeton Fire and Rescue Department and North Ambulance assisted the Minnesota State Patrol at the scene.
