Officer Wilson from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office reported 157 calls for service in September. This included a variety of traffic and other calls, but nothing that would be of note or concern for the public, he said.
• There was some extra speed-monitoring on the new 112th Street because of reports of excess speed along the new road. The conclusion was that there didn’t seem to be any evidence of speeding, at least at the time of the study, Wilson said.
• There is a new telephone number that the public should use to contact the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office in nonemergency situations: 763-765-3500. This number can also be found at http://www.co.sherburne.mn.us/sheriff.
The Township Board is looking to install the boardwalks at Young Park. The materials for the project have already been purchased and a contractor with experience and expertise in dock installation is needed. Contact the Town Hall at 763-389-8931 or visit http://www.baldwintownship.govoffice.com for more information.
142nd Street bid accepted
ML Schendzielos and Son, of Clear Lake, was awarded the bid for the 142nd Street project. Of the four bids received, Schendzielos was the lowest at $35,760. Township Engineer Jon Bogart is familiar with the company and is confident in the quality of their work. Bill Bronder of Sherburne County Soil and Water Conservation District found more grant money for the project, so the estimated cost to the Township is $22,800. The project should be completed yet this fall, officials said.
No debt service meeting
The board decided not to hold a special township meeting for the purpose of increasing the debt service fund for 2014. Because of the purchase of the lawn tractor, the township will spend more money on debt service than was planned at the March 2013 annual meeting.
Planning Commission update
The Township Board is looking to fill vacancies on the Planning Commission. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the town hall. The commission is currently working on the township comprehensive plan and reviewing plats and variances before they are brought before the board. Contact the town hall for more information.
Township Planner Bridget Chard asked for a change in the Planning Commission bylaws to allow for a prorated quorum. This would allow business to be conducted at the Planning Commission meetings even though membership has been declining. The quorum would be prorated according to membership, not attendance.
