June Cooper

June Ordella Cooper, age 92 of Princeton, passed away peacefully in her home Oct. 8, 2013.
She was born January 11, 1921 to Ole and Josephine Jacobson in Gilbert, Iowa.
She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1938 and then graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa in 1945 and became a registered nurse working at both St. Lukes and Trinity Lutheran Hospitals in Kansas City, Mo.
Prior to entering nursing school, she worked four years at Iowa State College Printing Dept. in Ames, Iowa where she met Coop, her future husband. As a cadet nurse, she served for six months during WWII at Schick Army Hospital in Clinton, Iowa.
She married Chalmer Cooper October 6, 1945 in Story City, Iowa, and moved to Kansas City, Mo. and later to Overland Park, Kan. where they lived for 46 years before moving to Princeton in 1998. June was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Princeton.
Survivors include her daughters Linda (Bill) Sumner, Mary Ann (Jerry) Mullins, and Pamela (Rich) Scott all of Princeton; grandchildren Josh, Matt, Zach and Lorna; great grandchildren Riley, Noah and Chloe Sumner and Zoey Mullins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chalmer in 2006, her parents, two brothers, and grandson Jacob in 2006.
Burial will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Story City Municipal Cemetery, Story City, Iowa. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Princeton.
