Lawrence, Gourley lead Tigers at C-I Swim Invite

Sophomore Meg Gourley placed 2nd in Diving at the Oct. 5 C-I Sholund Invite with 351.9 points. Meg broke the Tiger team six-dive mark with a 213.65 total earlier in the season against Milaca.

The Princeton girls swim & dive squad placed fourth at Saturday’s Cambridge-Isanti Sholund Invite, with notable performances across the events.

Montana Lawrence won the 500 Freestyle at 5:38.2, 15 seconds faster than the closest competitor. Lawrence also took fourth in the 200 Free at 2:08.7, and she anchored the fourth-place 200 Free Relay while pairing with Amanda Johnson, Emma Carlberg and Julia Woodward.

Megan Gourley was in a good dogfight off the diving board with C-I’s Maria Leibel, Spring Lake Park’s Ryann Lynch and C-I’s Taylor Weeks. Gourley scored 351.9 points to place second behind Leibel’s 362.2, with Lynch and Weeks a few points back. Princeton’s Emily Cooley was seventh with 263.4 points.

Woodward supplied more individual points by finishing fifth in the 50 Freestyle (27.3) and fourth in the 100 Free (59.2). More top-10 swims for the Tigers came from Carlberg in the 100 Butterfly (8th), Sophie Hoffer in the 100 Backstroke (7th),  Johnson in the 100 Breaststroke (4th), and the 200 Medley Relay of Gabrielle Donais, Johnson, Lawrence and Woodward (7th).
