Princeton traveled to Braham for the annual Bomber Invite on Saturday, going 2-2 on the day to finish in fourth place.
The Tigers opened against eventual tourney champ Albany who prevailed 25-13, 25-18. Next, Princeton downed Rush City 25-17, 25-21. Finishing pool play, the Tigers knocked off St. Cloud Apollo in an intense three-set match 22-25, 25-21, 18-16.
The third-place match saw Kimball get past Princeton 25-18, 25-21.
“After beating Apollo, we went directly into the third-place match with a five-minute break. The girls were exhausted, and Kimball was coming off an hour break, so it was a battle for energy,” noted Tiger Coach Mary Patnode. “But we stuck with them, taking the lead many times, but just couldn’t push to the end. I was proud of the girls. Jaydee Green was coming off an injury and is not 100 percent back yet, but she played well throughout the day.”
Tiger stat leaders in the tourney: Kills– Beth Scharber (23), Maddie Nierengarten (18), Hailey Mattson (14), Green (10); Assists– Charity Hanson (59); Digs– Melinda Meyer (35).
